Zienna

Zienna is a massive plane with 14 regions, 13 cities, and two main religious sites.

Zienna, a physical realm with a timeline that mirrors Earth, sits at the center of the Domain. With a long history going back at least 3,000 years, its story is riddled with endless tales of magic, religion, war, politics, corruption, and power. It is here that your journey begins.

A massive world extending from the mystical wild archipelagos in the West to the desolate and corruption-ridden lands in the East, Zienna primarily inhabits humanoids and animals and consists of three significant and sizable territories.

Across these main territories lie 14 regions and 13 cities, each rich in individual culture, unique spiritual beliefs, resources, dungeons, and wilderness.

The Kingdom of The Holy Isles

The Kingdom of the Holy Isles, known simply as the “Holies” or “Kingdom of the Serpent,” reveres the Divine Liberation of the One True God (the "Liberation'').

Wielding considerable economic and military power, the Holies have shaped history for over 150 years, and their version of events echoes throughout the Domain.

The greater Kingdom is a monarchy unified under the rule of He Who Holds the Staff, the Golden Serpent himself, King Serres. As the bearer of the Staff, the leaders of the Liberation have declared King Serres the Divine Light, governing authority over the Domain, and have pledged undying support to the Staff.

The Holy Capital, the City of the Golden Serpent, lies within the Highlands and is the homeland of the White Citadel and the Liberation.

Divine Liberation of the One True God

Overseen by the devout missionary group known as the Whites, the Divine Liberation serves as the Holy Isles' official faith. They gained power 137 years ago during an event known as the Coming of the Age of Light when the then-King and leaders of the Whites sought to unite the Domain under a single God.

The wars that ensued in the Northern and Eastern regions were brutal. Although these wars are written in history as victories, inhabitants of these regions claim they're ongoing to this day.

The Afflicted Union

The Afflicted Union (the "Union''), once a dominant force in Zienna known as the Afflicted Empire, follows the Emergent Order of the Chaotic Dawn, or simply the “Emergent Order.”

The Union, overseen by the "Council of One Hundred," reigned power during the Age of Prosperity, which some say lasted over 2,000 years.

The Fallen City of Thresh, once the capital and heart of the Afflicted Empire, now stands as a tragic testament to the dangers of unchecked darkness. Today, the Union leaders gather in the Undercity, a massive underground network of tunnels beneath the Red Marsh.

Emergent Order of the Chaotic Dawn

Veiled in mystery, the Order firmly believes that Chaos, the elusive sixth element, is the underlying fabric of all existence, as a shapeless and all-encompassing substance. Governed by the Acolytes of the Inner Order, their conviction is that Anima Power emanates from the untamed depths of the soul.

Free Cities of the Far East

The Free Cities of The Far East, or simply the “Free Cities,” encompass a massive continent in Zienna’s Eastern plane. The people of this land are more spiritual than religious, celebrating the old Gods and following something called the Coherence of Ni. The region is said to be the cradle of life, and the people of these lands largely remain to themselves and out of Western politics.

The capital city in the East is the Jewel of Ni, located in the southern region of Samsara.

Coherence of Ni

The followers of Ni, without a central leader, are safeguarded by the Chancellors of the Jewel, known more commonly as "The Elders." Adherents of this belief hold that true enlightenment and understanding arise from a deep meditative state. This higher consciousness is achieved when Anima, a key concept in their doctrine, aligns perfectly with Ni.
