## 6 Primary Skills

*Primary* skills are the player’s main source of damage and include:

* Melee
* Defense
* Ranged
* Divine (Arcane)
* Chaos (Arcane)
* Blood (Arcane)

When addressing p*rimary* skills more broadly, they are often categorized by *casting* versus *non-casting.*

*Melee*, *defense*, and *ranged* are all *non-casting* skills that implore *styles* as their *form* of attack, while *arcane* skills are considered *casting* skills that utilize *spells* when attacking.

More information on *styles* and *spells* can be found here: [Primary Skills: Styles & Spells](/docs/anima-rising/combat/primary-skills-styles-and-spells.md).

## 8 Secondary Skills

*Secondary* skills, which include *elemental callings* and *invocations*, assist in combat through buffs, crowd control, and supplementary damage. These include:

### 4 Elemental Calling Secondaries

* Water Weaving
* Wind Warping
* Stone Shifting
* Flame Foraging, and

### 4 Invocation Secondaries

* Worship
* Mantra
* Incantation
* Necromancy

More information on s*econdary* skills can be found here: [Secondary Skills: Callings & Invocations](/docs/anima-rising/combat/secondary-skills-callings-and-invocations.md).

Lastly, the two advanced *channeling* skills, *ni* and *ethereal*, are unlocked in late-game gameplay and will not be covered here.

## Attack Sequence

The *four-attack-per-turn sequence* alternates between two p*rimary* attacks and two s*econdary* attacks. The following sections provide more information on the *attack sequence*.
