Primary Skills: Styles & Spells

Primary skills are the player's main source of damage. Each attack sequence includes two primary attacks.

Styles and spells represent the specific attacks your character will perform during combat.

The three non-casting primaries utilize styles for hand-to-hand combat.

As you can see in the image below, each non-casting primary has three unique styles to choose from.

The three casting primaries attack with spells, with each arcane skill receiving four unique spells.

When combined with compatible gear, these styles and spells offer specific bonuses, adding depth to the combat system. Further, each style and spell is associated with scaling mastery nodes, enabling players to specialize in their favorite combinations to gain an advantage over foes.

For example, consider the following: A player selects melee and utilizes the slash style. This style grants unique weapon bonuses when used with a fast, one-handed weapon such as a sword. So, as you develop mastery in the unique combination of melee (skill), slash (style), and one-handed (weapon), you will deal increasingly greater damage with this combination.

In total, players have 21 distinct primary methods of attack across the six melee styles, three ranged styles, and 12 arcane spells.

In addition to primary skills, players can choose two secondary skills.
