Secondary Skills: Callings & Invocations

Secondary skills aid players in combat via buffs, support, and supplemental damage.

Secondary skills are either elemental callings or invocations, with each category encompassing four unique skills and each skill encompassing four unique spells.

Elemental Callings

Callings allow players to harness the elemental power of their environment. They are activated once every four turns when players accumulate their fourth Charge of Ni, which are generated with each attack. At four charges, players briefly enter a higher state of consciousness (anima power), cohering with the forces of Ni and triggering the calling.

Elemental spells create synergies with other attacks and provide complexity that skilled players can use strategically to outmaneuver opponents. Further, players can leverage the concepts of the Elemental Step, Elemental Dynamics, and synergies to outshine their opponents even more before typing "Get Good, Kid" in chat.

  • The Elemental Step dictates elemental strengths and weaknesses while

  • Elemental Dynamics offers unique advantages through a responsive elemental environment.

  • Synergies, on the other hand, occur when specific weapons, spells, or styles are used together.

Invocations

The invocation system allows players to "sacrifice" items found throughout Zienna to generate Marks of Tribute. These marks allow players to communicate with gods, demons, and other spiritual entities during combat, who can then provide buffs and assistance.

Like the calling system, the invocation system features four invocation skills, each with four unique spells, resulting in 16 more distinct ways to attack.
