Staying Alive

The first core mechanic is eating and staying alive.

You must acquire food and equip it in your main food slot. From there, you can toggle auto-eat, so you don’t have to return to the game every few hours to feed your character.

If your character does not regularly eat, they will lose health over time, and you'll run the risk of death.

Characters will lose eight (8) health per hour, or approximately 0.133 health per minute, and will face increased gathering and crafting times if their health falls below 50%.

After 12.5 hours of no food, your character's health will reach 0, and you will die, losing all items in your inventory. For this reason, it’s critical to periodically move items into your character’s bank and ensure that your character always has adequate food in their food slot.

In the early game, food primarily comes from farming, which requires you to manage your crops and source seeds.

More on farming can be found here: Gathering.

Note that the auto-eat feature will be awarded via a quest in the full release of ANiMA, so ensuring your character's health must be done manually until that early quest is completed. However, auto-eat will be available at the game's start in all game versions up until launch.
